Evening Meals for Kids and Families
A Third of the Year Without Meals
More than one-third of the year comprises “non-traditional times” when children do not have reliable access to school meals or summer meal programs. These periods include after-school hours, weekends during the school year, summer breaks, holidays, school vacations such as winter and spring break, and other non-school days like teacher in-service days. During these times, many children experience food insecurity due to the absence of consistent access to nutritious meals.
Healthy Meals Can be a Challenge When School Is Out
Many families face difficulty providing their children with enough healthy food every day, especially during times when school is not in session. At Cornerstone Community and Resource Center, we are committed to offering after-school evening meals to children and families in our communities, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals when they need them most.
